Today, Superintendent Dr. Jason Perrin, Director of Food and Nutrition Services Ms. Meredith Bailey and Director of Finance and Operations Mr. Sam Kirk proudly accepted a generous donation from Giant Eagle during the grand opening celebration of the new Kittanning Giant Eagle Pharmacy.

We extend our sincere thanks to Giant Eagle for their $5,000 donation, which will be provided in the form of gift cards and giveaways to support our upcoming 2026 Summer Feeding Program. Last week many directors representing PRFSD attended the Pennsylvania School Breakfast Summit in State College, PA.

There were many great workshops and trainings available to those in attendance regarding school breakfast, nutritional standards, menu planning and a vendor show.

Stay tuned for additional images from PDE, they will be releasing additional photos of the event soon!

Having worked with both Food Service Management Companies (FSMCs) and self-operated food service programs, I’ve gained a unique, hands-on perspective on their strengths and challenges. My experience has led me to champion the self-operated model—for more on this, check out my earlier posts. Duri...

Great stuff out of Grove City!!!!

Today, CCAC Dietetics program spent the day at Southmoreland Elementary School with grades 2-5. We incorporated nutrition lessons into their physical education class! We enjoyed talking about every day foods such as broccoli, beans, and cheese and “sometimes” foods such as cookies, pizza, and ice cream. The kids rode scooters, hopped, skipped, and even did gymnastics to burn some calories!

I would like to thank Ms. Rachel Means for collaborating this effort for us to spend the day with her students; Mr. Zachary Malavite for taking us on a tour of their kitchen and allowing us to watch the meal process for the children; Mr. Dan Krofcheck, elementary Principal and Dr. Jason Boone Superintendent for allowing us to spend the day in their amazing school. We hope this is a collaboration that will continue over years to come!
