FANTASTIC NEWS to report on behalf of the Baldwin High School Purple Pantry:

Based on a year-to-year trends analysis conducted by BWEF and the Baldwin-Whitehall School District, students who received support from the Purple Pantry improved their academic performance and attendance figures during the 2025-26 academic year.

- Nearly 60% of the students who received support improved their grade point averages (GPA), with the average GPA increasing from 2.91 to 3.19 (an improvement of .28 points).
- Half of the students receiving support reduced their total absences this past school year compared to 2024-25, with several students reducing their cumulative absence total by more than half.

We are encouraged by these results and would like to thank everyone who supported and continues to support the Purple Pantry, especially the Jefferson Regional Foundation for awarding the Pantry with two grants last year.

We are in the process of preparing for the 2026-27 academic year so that we can continue to serve our most at-risk students in critical ways. Our next Purple Pantry collection drive will be at BWEF Mini Golf Outing on Sept. 17 at Cool Springs Golf. Thank you for your continued support.

Congratulations to the Whitehall America250 Committee (WA250) for a successful celebration of America's 250th birthday! BWEF was honored to participate in several events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

1) BWEF co-hosted a Baldwin-Whitehall School District student artwork contest, and congratulations to Ninelle Dumm of J. E. Harrison Middle School (pictured with art teacher Amber Salmen). Ninelle's original design incorporated patriotic symbolism, was voted the best out of nearly 50 entries, and she received a $100 Amazon gift card as a prize!

2) As part of its yard sign recycling program, BWEF donated materials to create yard signs marking the burial site for the 2026 Whitehall Borough Time Capsule. The capsule was buried on Aug. 12, 2026, just outside of the Whitehall Pool. We placed five items representing the Baldwin-Whitehall School District, Baldwin-Whitehall Educational Foundation, and Highlander Hub in the time capsule, which will be opened as part of the country's tricentennial celebration in 2076.

3) BWEF President Erik Arroyo and Trustee John Wotus served on the WA250 Committee. All members of the committee received Community Service Awards presented by Whitehall Borough Council at Whitehall Community Day on Aug. 8.

BWEF would like to thank Whitehall Mayor James Nowalk and the entire Whitehall America250 Committee for the opportunity to work together and to make history in Whitehall Borough!

Baldwin-Whitehall School District and Whitehall Borough: We will see you Saturday at Community Day! We are hosting a Purple Pantry drive in Snyder Park and are currently in need of the following items:
-Snack items (fruit snacks, bars, fruit strips, applesauce squeezers, cookies, pretzels, crackers)
- Feminine products (pads preferred)
- Laundry detergent pods
- Paper Towels / Toilet paper
- Full, unused shampoo / conditioner / body wash
- Pasta / Pasta sauce (cans or plastic jars. No glass)
- Rice / Ready rice (or pasta) packets
- Black beans
- Dish soap
