How can artificial intelligence accelerate cancer research and improve patient care?

Anshini Bhatt, MBBS, MPH, Laura Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone, explores that question in the third-place abstract (tie), "NYU Prostate Cancer Automated Database (NYU Pro AD Pilot Project): Leverage AI in Operational Workflow."

The project uses AI, large language models, and natural language processing to automate data extraction from electronic health records, creating scalable, real-time clinical databases that support research and improve operational efficiency.

How can cancer centers streamline study oversight while reducing administrative burden?

Marjorie Brelsford, MHA, CCRP, and Kate McCaffrey, MBA, are lead authors on one of two abstracts that tied for third place. In "Enhancing Scientific Review and Progress Monitoring to Improve Committee Management and Portfolio Oversight," they describe modernized protocol review and monitoring processes implemented at Moffitt Cancer Center that reduced review timelines by 32% and improved communication with study teams through automation and data-driven tools.

What keeps cancer leaders motivated in the fight against cancer?

For Dr. Gary Schwartz, director of Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, it's simple: he's driven by “the desire to promote therapies and find cures that ultimately improve the lives of cancer patients across our communities.”

It’s a proud day to be part of the CAR T Vision coalition as we launch the first Vision to Action Blueprint—a practical plan designed to sustain and expand delivery of CAR T-cell therapy into community settings across the US.

While CAR T-cell therapy has the potential to transform outcomes, only approximately 2 in 10 eligible patients in the US currently receive it. This Blueprint turns ambition into action by providing clear interventions to help address access challenges across awareness and referral, treatment capacity, and sustainable financing.

As the first Blueprint in the Vision’s broader global effort, it provides a shared foundation for coordinated progress across the CAR T‑cell therapy ecosystem and toward the Vision’s shared goal: doubling the proportion of eligible patients treated with CAR T-cell therapy by 2030.

Now is the time to move from .
