The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Friends of Saint Patrick launches its inaugural year. The Chapter is a support organization of the Saint Patrick Centre, in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. Inspired by Saint Patrick and the common Christian heritage he represents,
the Friends of Saint Patrick’s Pittsburgh Chapter seeks to follow in the footsteps of Saint Patrick through service that encourages peace a

nd reconciliation. Toward that end, the Chapter supports the mission and message of the Saint Patrick Centre. The Centre provides a cutting edge interactive exhibition about the life and legacy of Saint Patrick and is a central hub on the new Saint Patrick's Trail through Counties Armagh and Down.

The Chapter supports the Saint Patrick Centre's Young Ambassadors program.
This travel scholarship is awarded to North American college students in the spring of each year. The process for selection of the Pittsburgh Young Ambassador culminates in the spring of each year.
