March of Dimes March for Babies - Team Frisoli Twins

March of Dimes March for Babies - Team Frisoli Twins March of Dimes March for Babies is a walk to help raise money for research to prevent premature births, infant death and birth defects.

Sierra & Eva are my twin daughters who were born @ 28wks and 4 days. Sierra's weight was 2lbs 11oz and Eva's weight was 2lbs 7oz. Their length was 15in long. Sierra was in the NICU for almost 8wks and Eva was in for almost 5wks. Sierra battled Necrotizing Entercolitis (NEC) twice and she ended up with receiving 2 units of blood and getting a picc line inserted to receive steroids and antibiotics.

Having your babies and not being able to take them home is very hard. With the help of the March of Dimes we can help prevent this. The two have been through so much and have overcome so much I am so proud of who they have become. Both girls had Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and had to see an eye specialist for a few years but has since then outgrown that. As infants they saw the developemental team and graduated from that after a year. Eva has had Urinary Reflux and had to be on preventative antibiotics for 2yrs and had to have a VCUG twice for it. Both Sierra and Eva had tubes put in their ears the day before their 1st birthday party for severe ear infections they kept getting. Eva has also had to have teeth surgery for tooth decay gavities caused by all the antibiotics as infants. She still has to have alot of teeth work. She has spaces because some of her baby teeth have fallen out too early. Sierra had to stay in the hospital for 4 days with bilateral pneumonia before she was 1yr. Eva had to be rushed by ambulance for pneumonia as an infant. Both are now diagnosed with asthma and need occasional nebulizer treatments and use inhalers. Sierra takes a medication for her asthma daily to help prevent her from getting really bad. Sierra does speech therapy and is doing really well. They both have been in preschool and graduated. They both did a great job in kindergarten and graduated. It is now 2013 and they will soon graduate from 1st grade and I am so proud of them. They have overcome so much and are still so happy. They are now big sisters and are such a great help to me. They amaze me on how much they remember and how far they come.
