A note from our Conductor πŸ’

"The original plan for this concert was a collection of light, funny, breezy works about animals, landscapes, and the natural world. Then, while discussing future collaboration possibilities, a colleague reminded me of Alex Berko’s Sacred Place – a piece that had been on my to do list for years.

While thinking about some of the music I had already chosen, Whitacre’s Animal Crackers and Stanford’s The Blue Bird, within the context of Berko’s reverent, evocative work I realized that a new, more meaningful concert was coming into focus.

Beneath the music about animals, birds, forests, and landscapes ran a common thread: our search for places of belonging, wonder, and refuge. These works invite us not merely to observe the natural world, but to consider how places, both physical and spiritual, shape who we are and remind us where we belong."
- Dr. Ryan Keeling

A note from our Managing Director πŸ’

"Think about the last time you really felt surrounded by natureβ€”maybe you were on a vacation, or on a hike through one of Pittsburgh’s many beautiful parks, or maybe even just enjoying a quiet morning in your yard. The sense of stillness, the quiet solitude, the peace of mind and heartβ€”that’s what we’re hoping you’ll find in this concert. "
