Today was a special day. The recently refurbished cafeteria patio area at St. Margaret Hospital was dedicated to Luke Greenfield, a beloved member of the St. Margaret family who worked in the cafeteria for decades. When he passed away last year, St. Margaret Foundation agreed to support the refurbishment of the cafeteria patio in his memory.

This space is utilized by patients, their families, and employees as a place to recharge, get fresh air, and enjoy a meal. The updated patio furniture, cleaned concrete and walls, landscaping, and fencing all create a welcoming environment for folks to enjoy.

Today, please join us in remembering Luke as we enjoy this beautiful space dedicated to him. ❤️

Yesterday, we were honored to join Roots of Faith for a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of their partnership with St. Margaret Hospital. Thanks to our donors, St. Margaret Foundation has also been able to support this essential monthly event for many years, providing fresh produce, free glucose and blood pressure readings, vaccinations, and more.

Yesterday, September 17, staff members Beth and Sophie joined Roots of Faith along with St. Margaret Foundation board members Dr. Eric Frankel and Tom Walker to help serve a free meal to the community.

St. Margaret Foundation is truly honored to support the Sharpsburg community with access to free health care and food along with a wonderful organization. Thank you, Roots of Faith!

-28 participants participated in the interactive Knowing When to Get Help Family Feud activity
-18 participants connected with Tracie Santicola at the UPMC for Life information table

Grant Highlight: In 2026, the Board of St. Margaret Foundation provided funding to revitalize an essential space on the rehabilitation unit called the Activities of Daily Life (or ADL) room. Located on 4A, this space is used to practice basic skills that patients in this unit often need to re-learn after procedures in order to be safely discharged. New cabinets, fresh floors, and a new practice window allow patients to build essential skills in a welcoming and productive environment.

Thank you to our incredible donors for making grants like this possible. We could not do this without you.
