Yesterday for the first time ever, FCAAE held an all-outdoor class! For our Invasive Plants class, instructor Melinda Guinn took students on the trail behind Fairview Elementary School where we saw how invasive species were affecting the landscape. From fallen trees covered in vines to garlic mustard and stiltgrass blanketing the ground, Melinda pointed out many invasive plants, suggested ways to remove them, and provided alternative native plants to grow instead.

Many thanks to and Beechwood Farms for letting us borrow binoculars and garden supplies so that we could add some native species to the ecosystem! If you're looking to add native plants to your garden, be sure to visit Beechwood's native plant sale on May 9!
