Bring the magic of musical theater to your school! 🎭

The Disney Musicals in Schools program helps public elementary schools build sustainable musical theater programs via scaffolded support from professional Teaching Artists at no cost to participating schools.

This free program, available to 3rd-5th grade students, teaches teachers how to produce musicals independently over a 17-session period.

This residency ignites a passion for storytelling and builds students’ skills in critical thinking, problem solving, ensemble building, communication, self-confidence, and interpersonal skills. Schools chosen to participate receive:

Full access to a Disney KIDS musicals performance license
ShowKit production materials and access to digital resources
Professional Trust Arts Education Teaching Artists to guide schools through the 17-session residency

Public elementary schools in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, and Washington counties with 50% or higher Title I schoolwide status are eligible to apply.

Rehearsals can take place either during or after school, and participating teachers can earn Act 48 credit for required professional development sessions.

The theme of this year's STEAM Symposium is "Create the Future" and we are looking for workshops that provide students with opportunities to engage in hands-on learning, direct application of ideas and concepts, encourage creative risk-taking.

✨ Now Hiring: Teaching Artists – Disney Musicals in Schools! ✨

Do you have a passion for musical theatre and a love for working with young people? Join our team of Disney Musicals in Schools Teaching Artists and help bring the magic of theatre to elementary students across our community!

About the Role
As a Teaching Artist, you’ll partner with a local school to guide students and educators through the process of producing a Disney KIDS musical while building confidence, creativity, and lasting arts programs along the way.

What You’ll Do
- Lead weekly 90-minute rehearsals
- Direct, choreograph, music direct, and/or stage manage a production
- Teach acting, singing, and movement skills
- Mentor teachers to sustain theatre programs in their schools
- Collaborate with a co-Teaching Artist and school team

Who We’re Looking For
- Artists with a background in musical theatre
- Artist experienced in working with youth (elementary age a plus!)
- Strong collaborators who are reliable, organized, and student-centered

We loved hosting the students and staff from East End United Community Center on Saturday! Their field trip included a tour of the Byham Theater, lunch in our brand new Arts Landing, and interactive arts workshops with two of our amazing teaching artists. Reach out if you're interested in bringing your group of students or campers downtown for a Cultural District field trip!

School Day Matinees for the 26-27 school year are open! We have an amazing lineup of shows for all grade levels featuring local, national, and international artists!
Tickets are only $5 each and ticket and bus subsidies are available for schools based on need an student demographics.
