Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and co-workers of Kennywood host Lorna Brennen, who was tragically killed crossing Route 837 just outside the park on her way to work early Sunday morning.

A woman who worked at Kennywood was fatally struck by a vehicle near the amusement park in West Mifflin early Sunday morning.

The Allegheny HYP Club in downtown Pittsburgh is hosting a free event that may interest many regional amusement park enthusiasts. As part of the its Pittsburgh History Series, the HYP (Harvard-Princeton-Yale) Club is welcoming a presentation from amusement park historian and author Mike Funyak. Anyone interested is welcome to join them on Wednesday, September 24 for a presentation on West View Park, which closed after the 1977 season. For over 70 years, West View park shared top billing, along with Kennywood, as the premier amusement parks in the region. West View Park as home to The Big Dips, Racing Whippet and Little Dips roller coasters, as well as Danceland and Talkie Temple. Funyak, who has presented at CoasterBash! in the past, is the author of "West View Park - Story of the T.M. Harton Company" and will captivate attendees with his review of the park's history.

Anyone is welcome to attend -- HYP Club and/or ACE membership are not necessary. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Click the link below for information!
