The Junior Tamburitzans of Duquesne (JTD) were organized in 1961 and performed their premier concert in 1962. The group is comprised of 33 students from across the Pittsburgh region and takes pride in representing and preserving the many cultures of our Eastern European ancestors through music, song, dance, and costume. JTD has enjoyed many memorable performances possible across the United States and Canada. JTD is affiliated with the Junior Cultural Federation of the Croatian Fraternal Union (CFU), which provides the opportunity to perform at the annual CFU Festival—a highlight for the ensemble each season. We are thrilled to have been a part of and performed in the 2024 CFU Festival this Summer in Zagreb, Croatia. JTD extends our sincere appreciation to the students—past and present—who have donned a costume, danced a kolo, or played an instrument. We applaud the 70 former JTD members who have been awarded scholarships with the world-renowned Tamburitzans of Pittsburgh (formerly the Duquesne University Tamburitzans). The collective dedication of these individuals lays the foundation for future generations of Junior Tamburitzans. We are fortunate that our membership includes second-generation Junior Tammies, and we eagerly await the third generation.
