This will be a longer post, but I truly want you to understand me as a person and the journey that led to the creation of this vision and business. As a mom who experienced postpartum depression during the pandemic, I learned firsthand how important it is to seek professional help. What felt like a temporary trauma for me ultimately transformed into a powerful motivation to help other mothers facing similar challenges.
Through my experiences, I had the privilege of meeting incredible people and forming valuable connections. What started as an idea blossomed into a business plan, allowing me to serve mothers throughout Allegheny County as a solo entrepreneur. Along the way, I forged amazing collaborations, including partnerships with the Jewish Health Foundation and funding from the Allegheny County Maternal Health Department.
I would have never imagined that a simple community event I funded out-of-pocket would lead to such impactful change. I feel deeply blessed and incredibly thankful for the journey and the support I've received.
Now, here’s a glimpse into what Mommy Beauty Cutie and Mommy & Me Haven LLC are all about:
- Mommy Beauty Cutie: We offer baby bundles filled with postpartum and newborn essentials needed right after coming home from the hospital.
- Mommy & Me Haven LLC: Our nontraditional childcare services prioritize the mental health and self-care of mothers during the prenatal and postpartum stages. We provide a safe space for moms to drop off their children, allowing them to:
- Rest and recharge
- Attend doctor appointments (and we’ve even sat in waiting rooms with babies to give mothers the privacy and comfort they need)
- Run errands
- Prepare for job interviews
- Supporting Families: We are proud to have fed families and offered emotional support, reaffirming our commitment to being there for mothers during challenging times.
- Crisis-Based Approach: We understand the urgency in supporting mothers, helping to prevent issues such as postpartum depression, su***de, and child abuse by providing immediate assistance to overstimulated mothers.
- Personal Passion: As a mother of seven in a blended family, I deeply resonate with the challenges moms face. My commitment to maternal health comes from my own experiences and the desire to create meaningful support for others.
- Community Focus: I love sharing snippets of our community work, as it is close to my heart.
- Funding Support: We have paused our services temporarily as we seek funding to continue our vital work. I appreciate any leads on grants or resources geared towards maternal health that could assist us in fulfilling our mission.
