Labor Day, arguably the most important holiday for union workers, is just a few weeks away! This year it takes place on Monday, September 7th. As usual, all members of UMW are invited to march in the Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon at the Local 9562 Picnic.
The Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade is the largest Labor Day Parade in the country. The parade begins at 10:00 am, starting at the Melody Parking Lot near PPG Arena at 1418 Centre Avenue. Please gather at the Melody Parking Lot by 9:00am to receive a free USW tshirt. The parade route is about 1.5 miles through Downtown Pittsburgh, concluding at USW Headquarters in where USW will provide complimentary refreshments. Our Local 9562 Events Committee will host another Labor Day Picnic at the Vietnam Veterans Pavilion in Schenley Park from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. There will be food, games, a raffle, karaoke, a performance by the Pittsburgh Labor choir, and more! Invite your loved ones and coworkers!
