Thank you to everyone who braved the heat this morning and helped out at our Penn Hills Community Cleanup Day! In less than two hours, we collected 167 bags of trash, about a dozen tires, and other miscellaneous large debris! Roads cleaned include Verona Rd, Poketa Rd, Rockcliff Rd, Jefferson Rd, Old William Penn Highway, the Parkway East ramps, and parts of Hulton and Universal. We’d like to give a special thank you to Rosedale Penn Hills VFD Station 222 for allowing us to use their park for the post-cleanup cookout, and to the Penn Hills Police Department for doing speed and aggressive driving enforcement near our volunteers. The award for “most unique item found” goes to the Penn Hills girls softball team who located a sock full of ammunition near the creek. See you next year!

Join us for Penn Hills Community Cleanup Day 2025, sponsored by Penn Hills Rotary and Penn Hills Community Development Corporation! Litter is an important issue in Penn Hills, and we want to bring like-minded individuals and groups together to tackle the issue – all on the same day at the same time!

The second-annual litter cleanup will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The process is pretty simple. Each individual or group can select their own road or neighborhood to cleanup. Not sure where to start? Don't worry - we will provide you a list of where other groups are working and you can feel free to join in!

Rotary and PHCDC will provide your group with the necessary cleanup supplies. You pick litter and beautify your area from 8:30 to10:30 a.m., then join us at 11 a.m. for a free picnic at Rosedale VFD Memorial Park (5806 Verona Rd). Food and drinks provided by Rotary and PHCDC. Prizes will be awarded to teams in various categories, including most litter picked up, most unique item found, "dirtiest" volunteer, and more!

And don't worry about all the trash your groups collect. Rotary and PHCDC will coordinate getting all the bags and large debris picked up by the appropriate agency.
