So many things to say about this post, but we'll go with how wonderful it is to be on a mission trip with priests, especially young priests. Two comments from people we visited; they were the first priests ever in her home, and they were the youngest priests they've seen in a long time. Jesus shows up in a powerful way through the Anointing, a gift many received because priests were there.

We had opportunity to be there last week while La COS Maternidad de María celebrated 60 years of serving people in Chimbote with quality medical care. We are so grateful to stand on the shoulders of legends Fr. Jules Roos from the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh and Dominican Sisters Grand Rapids Sr. Margaret Mary and Sr. Lillian who spent there lives building this tremendous facility. And grateful to Rosa Bertha Altuna Gonzales and her team for their great work in leading toward a promising future.

Ermenegildo and Mauro are brothers who have lived in the city of Chimbote all their lives, most recently in a hut made of reed mats, plastic sheeting and cardboard. Many people came together to transform their living situation and today they have a clean, secure home thanks to the Center for Social Works and the Dignified Housing Program.

This is the story of Ermenegildo and Mauro, two brothers who have lived in the city of Chimbote for over 50 years.
