A program so many in Pittsburgh know and love is Project Bundle Up.
Our amazing sale helps this program and our amazing volunteers help taking seniors shopping!
WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up provides all NEW warm winter outerwear – including coats, hats, gloves, and boots – for children and adults over the age of 62 from across 28 counties in Western Pennsylvania.
This joint program is implemented by The Salvation Army Western PA Division and WTAE Channel 4.
Each winter, project Bundle-Up provides coats, boots, gloves and hats for an average of 5,000 children and seniors. Since its inception in 1986, WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up has raised nearly $18 million, providing more than 315,000 children and seniors with NEW winter outerwear across Western Pennsylvania.
WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up was created in 1986 by the late former Vice-President and General Manager Fred Barber, the late Chief Meteorologist Joe DeNardo and Salvation Army Lieutenant Colonel Robert A. Watson.
For many participating children and older adults, the experience of WTAE-TV’s project Bundle-Up is the first opportunity they have ever had to shop for something brand NEW for themselves. Dedicated corporate and community volunteers, including members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and talent from WTAE-TV, ensure that the experience is not just about receiving new items but also about creating meaningful memories.
