Montour High School’s class of 1976 celebrates its 50th reunion.

The Montour High School Class of 1976 celebrated its bicentennial year with a yearbook featuring U.S. history, fads like mood rings, and unforgettable events such as homecoming and prom. In 2026, they reunited for their 50th anniversary, mirroring America’s 250th celebration.

The Groveton School, established in 1924, became a beloved educational center for the small Groveton Village community. Known for its close-knit atmosphere and dedicated teachers, it provided meaningful experiences for students until its closure in 1972. It now serves as the Walden Activity Center.

Honoring Old Glory

On Sunday afternoon, June 14, Flag Day, Cranberry Township held an official flag retirement ceremony led by Retire Your Old Glory Inc. and its CEO, Denise Etter. Robinson Township Historical Society members Len Rider and Tim O’Toole attended and brought more than 150 flags collected at the township municipal building. After the flags were respectfully retired by burning, the ashes were buried at the community veteran’s memorial.
