On April 14th, the Pittsburgh City Council is holding a hearing on their 2021 City Budget. South Asians Building Bridges has written a letter of testimony stressing the need for equitable reallocation of the funds. See our full statement here: bit.ly/SABBtestimony
Currently, the budget allocates nearly 20% of the city's funds to the Bureau of Police, while investing less than 1% to the Offices of Community Health and Safety, and Equity, combined.
We hope to leverage our networks to maximize the impact of our testimony. Any institutions or organizations interested in signing onto our letter, please send us a direct message by Monday, April 12th. We invite you to join us as we urge City Council for equitable re-allocation to invest in more community-based programs.
