Introducing A Passion for W**e’s 2026 honoree, Dr. Casandra “Cassie” Arevalo.

Dr. Arevalo is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, and Director of the Mountain State Cystic Fibrosis Center at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.

She joined the WVU Medicine Children’s team in 2018, driven by a simple passion to make cystic fibrosis care better. She continues to turn this passion into progress by fostering the collaboration and innovation needed to move closer to the ultimate goal: a cure for every person with CF.

In her eight years at WVU, she has found a community she loves, a purpose worth fighting for, and a team that makes the impossible possible.
