Boil Water Advisory Rescinded for the city of Frontenac, Crawford County
Press Releases - Boil Water Advisories Posted on May 18, 2026 | Last Updated on May 18, 2026

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a boil water advisory for the city of Frontenac public water supply system located in Crawford County. The advisory was issued because of waterline breaks resulting in a loss of pressure in the distribution system. In addition, the city could not maintain the minimum required chlorine residual due to equipment failure. Failure to maintain adequate pressure and required chlorine residual levels may put the system at risk for bacterial contamination.

Public water suppliers in Kansas take all measures necessary to notify customers quickly after a system failure or shutdown. Regardless of whether it’s the supplier or KDHE that announces a boil water advisory, KDHE will issue the rescind notice following testing at a certified laboratory.

Laboratory testing of drinking water samples collected from the city of Frontenac indicate no evidence of bacteriological contamination and all other conditions that placed the system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved.

For consumer questions, please contact the water system at: 620-231-9210 or you may call KDHE at 785-296-5514. For consumer information please visit our webpage: https://www.kdhe.ks.gov/468/Disruption-in-Water-Service.

The boil water advisory has officially been lifted.
A few quick steps for everyone at home:

Run cold water taps for a couple minutes to flush your lines
Toss old ice and let your ice maker cycle a few fresh batches
Replace fridge or faucet filters
Discard any water or drinks made during the advisory
Normal water use can resume once these steps are done.

Thank you again for your patience and steady attitude through all of this....Frontenac showed its resilience once again.

I want to personally thank everyone for their patience and understanding since early Thursday morning. Moments like this remind me why Frontenac is such a strong and resilient community. We look out for each other, we stay steady, and we get through challenges together.
