“Doorbell cameras in a Sacramento, California, neighborhood captured a knife-wielding man, identified as 56-year-old Brian Mattson, approaching homes and stabbing at doors on April 30, 2026.”

“The suspect, on felony probation, was arrested for criminal trespassing on May 2 but was briefly released, causing significant community concern.”

“Neighbors reported that despite the threat, private security did not arrive in time, and there was frustration regarding the suspect's quick initial release.”
