The family of Tuan Van Bui is mourning his death in ICE custody that occurred on April 1, as horrifying inconsistencies between ICE’s account and witness reports raise serious questions about how he died.The family demands a secondary evaluation, proper legal review and repatriation of his body to fulfill his burial wishes. 

Tuan Van Bui is now the second Southeast Asian Philadelphian known to have died in ICE detention, following the death of Parady LA earlier this year. His death comes amid a sharp escalation in detentions and deportations of Southeast Asians across Pennsylvania.

🥳 Roksana, our Executive Director, first welcomed AAU, ACE, and AAAN as some of GAR’s first official members in 2022. Since then, she’s seen up close how these organizations have stayed invested in GAR, become more rigorous in their local work, and learned to connect organizing struggles across geographics, ethnicities, and communities.

🔥Locally, AAU is doing cutting edge work in defending Philly Chinatown from corporate greed, ACE organizing Asian gig workers in a right-to-work state like Virginia, and AAAN is fortifying sanctuary protections in Chicago.

Asian Americans United is seeking a mental health counselor to support our summer camp and youth programs. The mental health counselor will provide supportive listening sessions for program participants, as well as provide emotional/behavioral insight for program leaders.

Location: FACTS Charter School (1023 Callowhill St.)
Duration: June 22-July 30 (Mondays & Wednesdays)
Time: 12-4 PM
