Meet this year's Summer Camp team! ☀️⚽

Our 22 Coach Mentors and Coach Interns are excited and ready to welcome campers for another summer of fun, growth, and play!

Did you know that before stepping onto the field, our coaches and interns complete 20 hours of training in positive youth development, trauma-informed practices, and creating safe, inclusive, and supportive spaces for young people to thrive—and so much more?

At Starfinder, our Coach Mentors do much more than teach soccer skills. They serve as role models, helping campers build confidence, develop leadership skills, strengthen relationships, and create lasting memories both on and off the field.

As part of our Future Focus pillar, 12 high school students from our Playmakers program are serving as Coach Interns this summer. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities, they are building valuable leadership and workforce skills while serving as role models for younger campers!

Thank you, U.S. Soccer Foundation, for an impactful and meaningful workshop that will enhance the experience of our coach mentors, interns, and campers.

We can't wait for an amazing summer together! ❤️

This Caribbean American Heritage Month, we're highlighting Jameese Joseph, a professional soccer player and forward for the Chicago Stars FC!

A standout collegiate player at North Carolina State University, Jameese was selected 15th overall in the 2024 NWSL Draft before signing with the Chicago Stars. During her rookie season, she earned Chicago Stars FC's Rookie of the Year and Chicago Grit Awards, recognizing her impact, determination, and contributions on the field. She has since gone on to represent the United States on the international stage, helping the U.S. Women's National Team capture the 2026 SheBelieves Cup.

Jameese has spoken proudly about the impact of her family's roots in Trinidad and how her parents' hard work and sacrifices helped shape her journey. From representing the United States at the youth national team level to competing on the international stage, her story highlights the importance of positive support systems and the role that family, mentors, and community can play in helping young people reach their full potential.

Through her accomplishments and continued growth, Jameese demonstrates the impact that dedication, opportunity, and strong support systems can have on a young person's journey.

Our Playmakers had an absolute blast participating in Street Soccer’s Philly Cup!

The pitch was full of energy as teams came together for a day of competition, connection, and community. Events like the Philly Cup remind us that soccer is about so much more than the game itself; it’s about building relationships, creating opportunities, and bringing people together!

We’re proud of our Playmakers for representing Starfinder both on and off the field, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make this experience possible.

Thank you to Street Soccer and all of the community partners who came together to make the Philly Cup possible. We can’t wait for the next one!

This Pride Month, we’re highlighting Collin Martin, a trailblazer for LGBTQ+ representation in soccer!

In 2018, while playing for Minnesota United FC, Martin publicly came out as gay, helping break barriers for LGBTQ+ representation in men’s professional soccer. Throughout his career, he has used his platform to advocate for greater inclusion, visibility, and belonging within the sport.

In support of greater representation and inclusion, Martin joined Common Goal in 2021 and pledged 1% of his salary to Play Proud, an initiative focused on educating coaches and creating more inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ athletes.

Martin was also named the 2021 USL Impact Player of the Year in recognition of his work promoting inclusion, equality, and social change within the soccer community.

At Starfinder, we believe every young person deserves a place where they feel safe, supported, and empowered to be their full self. Martin’s leadership reminds us that representation matters and that soccer should be a game where everyone belongs!

These are just a few of the incredible young people who will be serving as Player Escorts with Quaker and at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and we can’t wait to introduce you to them.

That’s right…they’ll be walking players out onto the pitch!

Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing their stories and what this experience means to them. Each young person represents the power of sport to inspire confidence, connection, and opportunity. STAY TUNED.
