Closing out AAPI Heritage Month, we’re highlighting Owen Wolff, a Filipino American professional soccer player and midfielder for Austin FC!

At just 16 years old, Owen became Austin FC’s first-ever Homegrown signing and has continued to establish himself as one of the brightest young talents in Major League Soccer. Since then, he has represented the United States at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, earned recognition on MLS’s prestigious 22 Under 22 list, and been named Austin FC’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Beyond his accomplishments on the field, Owen proudly embraces his Filipino heritage and serves as a powerful example of the importance of representation in soccer. His journey reminds us that leadership is built through dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to continuous growth.

Looking back on this year’s Playmakers Culmination Event with so much pride and gratitude!❤️⚽️🎓

This year, we celebrated an incredible group of young people as they prepare for their next chapters at Thomas Jefferson University, Widener University, Community College of Philadelphia, Temple University, and many more exciting paths ahead. We could not be prouder of our seniors and all they have accomplished both on and off the field!

We were also overjoyed to recognize this year’s REACH Award recipients and celebrate our scholarship winners, whose leadership, growth, and commitment to our community continue to inspire us every day.

A huge thank you to all of the friends, family members, coaches, staff, alumni, and board members who joined us in celebrating such a meaningful night!Your support, encouragement, and belief in our young people help make moments like this possible.

To our seniors: once a part of the Starfinder family, always a part of the Starfinder family! We can’t wait to see all the incredible things you accomplish next 💫

Big thank you to our friends at Chester Union for joining us at Starfinder this past Saturday for a friendly with our Playmakers group! Both teams competed hard, showed great sportsmanship, and brought positive energy throughout the day.
 
Coach Damien led Chester Union to a hard-fought 6–5 win, but the biggest win was seeing our young people connect through the game! Our Playmakers are already asking when the next one is!

This AAPI Heritage Month, we’re proud to spotlight Gisele Thompson: defender for Angel City FC and a rising talent in U.S. Soccer!

At just 19, Gisele has already represented the United States at the U-17, U-20, and Senior National Team levels, helping the U.S. earn a bronze medal at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Alongside her sister Alyssa, she also became part of the first sibling duo in NWSL history to combine for a goal.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gisele proudly represents her multicultural background, including Filipino heritage, on and off the field. At Starfinder, we celebrate athletes like Gisele who help young people see themselves reflected in the game and remind the next generation that they belong in soccer too.

This month, and every month, we honor and uplift AAPI voices shaping the future of soccer, community, and beyond!

At Starfinder, we often say that soccer is just the beginning. For Kimberly, it became a pathway to confidence, leadership, community, and now, college.

When Kimberly first joined Starfinder, she was quiet and unsure of herself. Over time, through the support of teammates, coaches, and a community that believed in her, she found her voice—not only on the field, but beyond it. Next month, she graduates as a young leader ready to take on her next chapter at Temple University.

We are especially proud to share that Kimberly was awarded the Level Up Scholarship in honor of Rudy Kranys and Sharon Kranys—an investment in young people whose hard work, growth, and perseverance embody the very spirit of Starfinder, that will make the pathway to Temple that much smoother.

Stories like Kimberly’s are possible because of a community that believes every young person deserves access to opportunity, mentorship, and safe spaces to grow.

As the excitement around and the FIFA World Cup 2026™ continues to build in Philadelphia, we know the spotlight on soccer is growing—but so is the need to ensure that ALL young people have meaningful pathways to participate, belong, and thrive.

A day our girls won’t forget!🌍⚽️❤️

Meet the World brought together our U13 girls for something truly special: competition, connection, and moments that reminded them why they love the game!

At this critical age, keeping girls in sport matters, and experiences like this help build the confidence and sense of belonging that make them want to stay.
From stepping onto the field together to, for some of our girls, attending their very first professional match, it was a day filled with firsts and the kind of memories that last!

We’re so grateful to our friends at SKF for making this experience possible, and to our partners Street Soccer USA, SafeHub, and Anderson Monarchs for coming together to create a meaningful experience for our girls and our community!
