DCCRGV is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to promoting independence, advocacy, employment opportunities, and social, economic, and educational empowerment for people with disabilities throughout the Rio Grande Valley. We work to build stronger partnerships between the disability and business communities through education, collaboration, and advocacy.

The Disability Chamber of Commerce – RGV is proud to have partnered with VAIL Center for Independent Living on the South Texas Disability Employment Collaborative, a project made possible through a 2024–2026 grant from the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities

For the past two years, this collaboration has focused on creating meaningful pathways to employment for people with disabilities across the Rio Grande Valley. Through job tours programmed via DCCRGV with local businesses and employers and our signature RGV HIRES Inclusive Job Fairs, participants have had opportunities to practice mock interviews, connect directly with employers, strengthen résumé-building skills, explore careers and, in some cases, walk away with real employment opportunities.

This work directly aligns with the TCDD Strategic State Plan, which identifies employment as a priority and recognizes the need to address employment disparities and expand opportunities for people with disabilities, including in underserved areas such as the Rio Grande Valley.

We are proud to be part of a collaborative effort that is helping close the employment gap for people with disabilities in South Texas.

The Disability Chamber of Commerce – RGV is proud to continue advancing our mission through partnerships that create real opportunities, stronger connections and greater access to employment for people with disabilities in our community.

This fall, DCCRGV will once again host RGV H.I.R.E.S. Cameron County and RGV H.I.R.E.S. Starr County, bringing together employers committed to inclusive hiring and job seekers ready to contribute their skills and talents.

More than a job fair, RGV H.I.R.E.S. creates opportunities for meaningful employment through employer engagement, networking, workforce resources, and connections that often lead to interviews and long-term careers. As employers across Texas continue recognizing the value of an inclusive workforce, these events play an important role in helping businesses meet their workforce needs while opening doors for individuals with disabilities.

Dates and registration information will be announced soon. We look forward to welcoming employers, workforce partners, educators, and job seekers from across the Rio Grande Valley for another successful season of inclusive hiring.

We are grateful to the UTRGV School of Rehabilitation Services & Counseling
for inviting us last week to participate in the 2026 SRSC Annual Counseling & Employment Support Conference, and for including our Executive Board Member, Cynthia Vale, as a panelist on an important panel about transition for students with disabilities who are continuing their education in higher education institutions.

Thank you for creating a space that amplifies important conversations around counseling, rehabilitation, mental health, disability studies, recovery services, and employment support.

We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to these conversations and help advance greater understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Congratulations to the event organizers on a wonderful conference!
