Literary community based in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. Books as tools for social change. Reading: Tiempo, Texas by Max Tyrone Lozano

09/19/2026

This is such an important read, especially for those of us in the Rio Grande Valley. It offers a beautiful perspective on how our powerful communities are transforming what it means to be an American. We must know where we come from in order to know where we are going.

It is an incredible piece that serves as a powerful reminder of hope and a perfect selection for this Hispanic Heritage Month.

"The first step toward change is for us to recognize who we are."

The LiberArte Book Club focuses on selecting books that empower us to continue this fight, which is far from over. Although Finding Latinx was released in 2020, its message remains deeply relevant today as it calls on us to expand our understanding of what it means to be Latino and American.
