Check out Tom Thumb and Lucy. Lucy saw the food first. Then you see Tom watching. Then, in he goes. They are so cute.

They are both box turtles who are recovering form MBD. They are doing great. Yes, they are available for adoption. They can live together for now because they are not yet sexually mature. They will need to have separate enclosures when adopted. They require no special care different than what we already recommend for box turtles: to live outside, have calcium on all supplemental food, have cuttlebones available at all times.

(The food is Mazuri Crocodilian Diet soaked in water and liquid calcium. We only feed them twice a week allowing them to forage the rest of the time.)

He/she is very healthy and needs a home. You will need an indoor setup for cold/winter and a predator-deterring outdoor set up such as you see in the last two photos. We can give you a lamp stand and lamps for the UV and heat you will need while they are indoors. Indoor setup does not need to be fancy. We can guide you with all of it.

Their owner died and family members did not want to keep them.

This is ET. We first told you about him a few weeks ago when he came in as a stray. No owner was found and he still needs a loving home.

ET is super friendly, loves kids, and likes to investigate chickens. He thinks it's funny to hide behind the salvia and I pretend I can't see him. Then he sneaks up behind me while I'm watering. He is seriously such a sweetie. He is at our main location in Pflugerville.

How it works:
1. You donate at least $5 (per ticket you want) to us by October 21. First 100 donations of at least $5 qualifies. Be sure to let us know if is for tickets.
2. We send Rescue Magazine the donor's names
3. Rescue Magazine will place your ticket at Will Call at the Pet Extravaganza.
4. At the event, simply give your name and the rescue organization you supported to receive your ticket.

Happy World Teacher's Day. Did you know our Executive Director, Brenda is a retired special education teacher and professor with a career of over 30 years. We LOVE teachers. None of us would be where we are today without great teachers.

This wonderful rain was much needed. Not only did it finally water everything, cool off temperatures, and give the tortoises a day in the rain, it also game me a much needed day indoors to catch up on the computer. These guys were all recently added to the website, available for adoption. These are Veena, Hermes, Reecy, and Maui, the Russian. Find them and their information on our website.
