If you run a business, side hustle, or brand that loves this community, this one's for you.

Backpack Friends has two high-energy, family-packed events coming up — and we're opening the doors to vendors and sponsors who want to be part of the fun (and in front of a great crowd).

Monster Smash and Bash — Sat, Oct 17 · Limestone Moving Company, Austin . A Halloween trunk-or-treat with a charity car smash. Families, costumes, and plenty of foot traffic.
----Vendor booths: $200

Holiday Extravaganza — Fri, Nov 6 · Centennial Plaza, Round Rock Our biggest night of the year: live music, holiday shopping, food, kids' activities, and pictures with Santa.
----Vendor booths: $100
----Sponsorships: $500 and up.

Did you ever jump out of the swings as a kid?

We’d swing as high as we could… gather all our courage… and FLY. For about 4 seconds I felt like Superman.

We’d chase each other around the merry-go-round playing freeze tag.

Twenty minutes of glorious, rambunctious running and screaming and laughing in the fresh air.

Then we’d head inside for lunch or a snack before going back to our lessons.

Today I realized that those school playgrounds are empty for about 64 hours straight every week. From Friday afternoon until Monday morning, students are off campus.

It’s not just that a lot of kids rely on school days to play with friends.

It’s that a lot of school kids rely on those days to EAT.

That’s what kills me every time I drive by an empty playground on the weekend.

In our world, empty playgrounds mean empty tummies.
