Today is International Overdose Awareness Day, marking 25 years of global remembrance and action.

This year's theme is 25 Years on. Still Needed. This theme emphasizes three ideas:
❤️Overdose continues to affect people, families, and communities everywhere.
❤️Overdose is preventable.
❤️Compassionate and evidence-based action can save lives.

This year, CHEP was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Cecil County Opioid Restitution Fund to strengthen the community's response to opioid use disorder. We will be hosting two conferences that are FREE to provide training for all those in our community who are working on the front lines to help those with opioid addictions. Our first conference focusing on foundational skills (including overdose prevention) will be held on October 26, 2026, at Great Wolf Lodge.

If you or someone you know would benefit from this conference, please join us.
You can learn more about this conference and register at chepinc.org/opioid-training.

Last week our veterans were visited by Dale Beach, a VA loan specialist from Shore United Bank. Dale is an Army veteran who enjoys educating fellow veterans about home buying through the VA loan program.

Our mission at CHEP is to help our veterans create sustainable positive change in their lives. Part of that mission is to give them the financial tools and education needed to secure permanent housing after graduation. We are grateful for experts from our community who volunteer their time to come and teach our veterans these important skills. We'd like to thank Mr. Beach for his time and service to our country and our veterans!
