Woot! Woot! Woot!
Woof! Woof! Woof!
Happy Friday! Last one to the weekend is a rotten egg! On your mark, get set, WOOF! MEOW!
Today was a successful day for senior rescue in Taylor County, Florida. Erin from Taylor County Animal Advocates asked if Leashes End would take an old guy from the county shelter. We agreed to take him as long as he was neutered. Erin arranged for Diana ( another wonderful TCAA volunteer) to board him while he recovered from the procedure. Turns out that ‘Lyle is already neutered! Of course it’s a Friday afternoon when all this goes down. But that didn’t stop the awesome staff at Owens Animal Hospital from fitting him in for a preliminary examination and lots of shots! Because of everyone’s efforts, we were able to bring ‘Lyle home to Leashes End this afternoon. He had a great dinner, a good walk with Kari and the pack, and as I write, he is sleeping safely and soundly inside our house. I don’t think ‘Lyle has spent too many days of his long, rough life indoors.
‘Lyle is at least 10 years old. His body is covered in scars and other signs of a rough life of neglect. He tested positive for hookworms, tapeworms, tickborne diseases, and heart worms. He has severe arthritis in his hips and shoulders. He’s deaf, developing cataracts, severely underweight, and in need of a dental when and if he beats the heart worms. We’re going to do everything we can to make this chapter of his life, the best ever! If you’re interested in donating toward his care, we appreciate the assistance . Welcome home, Carlyle.
Life is precious and too short. Make sure you hug your loved ones. Take good care of your family, friends, neighbors, and pets.
