Meet the Presenter

For over 20 years, Denise A. Alston, PhD, RYT-500, YACEP, has helped yoga practitioners realize that the deepest transformation starts from within.

Rooted in the Sri Vidya tradition and trained at Kripalu, Dr. Alston offers wisdom, scholarship, and heartfelt teaching in every class. Her approach, steeped in philosophy, encourages practitioners to go beyond postures and develop a lifelong connection to yoga as a spiritual journey.

At the BYTA 2026 Conference, she is set to present: “Divinely Connected and Empowered: How Your Practice Changes the World.”

Come discover how your personal practice becomes a force for healing, leadership, and positive change within the communities you serve.

Evidence Is Power

Research is more than data. It is a pathway to justice.

What happens when Black yoga professionals become fluent in research and evidence-based practice? We gain the tools to advocate for our communities, challenge one-size-fits-all healthcare models, and shape the future of wellness on our own terms.

Join us for "The Research Revolution: Reclaiming Data and Evidence-Based Practice for the Black Yoga Professional," a powerful workshop that transforms research literacy into community empowerment.

Learn from an extraordinary faculty:

✨ Daheia J. Barr-Anderson, PhD, MSPH, RYT-250

✨ Charlene Marie Muhammad, Licensed Dietitian, Yoga Therapist & Traditional Healing Practitioner

✨ Jennifer B. Webb, PhD, RYT-200, C-PYT

Together, they'll explore how research can become an accessible, practical tool that strengthens your teaching, your practice, and your impact.

For the Healer
Yoga Therapy
If you're passionate about healing, caring for, and supporting the whole person, this track might be right for you. The Yoga Therapy track explores approaches that support physical, emotional, and collective wellbeing while honoring the complexity of how we move through the world.

For the Teacher + Entrepreneur
Business of Yoga
Teaching is one thing. Sustaining the work is another. The Business of Yoga track was created for teachers and leaders thinking about how to grow, evolve, and create sustainable practices.

For Reflection + Practice
Dharma Talks, Meditation, Embodiment Practices & Teaching Methodology
Some of the most powerful shifts happen when we slow down. These experiences invite participants to reflect, inquire, move, and engage in embodied learning.

There’s no wrong way to experience BYTA! Tracks are meant to guide your journey, not restrict it.

Come ready to practice, connect, and experience.
