Happy Birthday to TeamMates Mentor, Andy Welsh! 🎉🎉

Talk about a guy who does it all! Andy is a busy dad of 3, spent the last three years coaching boys basketball, and is stepping into the Head Football Coach role this season!

On top of work, coaching, and family time, Andy still makes time during the week to grab lunch with his mentee during the school year. That dedication landed him a spot in our 24+ Match Meeting Club for 2025–2026! 🏆

Andy, thank you for all the ways you coach, lead, and mentor the youth in our community—and especially for giving your time to TeamMates. You are making a life-changing difference!

As we wrap up our first full week of school at Pender Public Schools, we currently have 5 local students eagerly waiting for a mentor to step up for them this year!

Mrs. Nixon will be sharing about TeamMates with our 4th and 5th graders soon, so we know that waiting list is about to grow quickly! Our goal is to match these students without delay because we know youth thrive when they have a strong team behind them.

By becoming a mentor, you'll play a vital role in building the future of our community by simply showing up and encouraging a student.

What does it really mean to be a mentor?

You don’t have to be a counselor.
You don’t have to be a tutor.
You don’t need an extraordinary career or all the answers.

You just need to be willing to show up, listen, encourage, care and believe in a student.

Sometimes, the most meaningful thing you can give a young person is your time, attention, and a positive adult friendship.

You could be the mentor a student needs!
