Our mission is to alleviate hunger and homelessness in our community, and to guide clients to attain independent living.

Founded in 1988, Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill, Inc. (CHOP), is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization located at 200 N Water St.

No one should have to worry about their Thanksgiving meal. If you could use a little extra support this season, CHHOP and Fred’s Pantry are here for you. Join us for our annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway, right after the Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 21st at the Peekskill Firehouse, starting at 10:00AM. Please note: Fred’s Pantry will be at the Firehouse for this special day. Everyone is welcome—let’s come together and celebrate the season of giving as a community!

We had some Halloween fun at Jan Peek! Our team got into the spirit by decorating the space for the holiday and adding some festive touches along the way. We love finding opportunities to bring a little extra joy to the season!

We need your help to pack 450+ holiday bags for families in our community! As part of CHHOP’s Turkey Trot, we’re collecting grocery bags filled with Thanksgiving sides and essentials to accompany the turkeys, chickens, and hams shared with local families. Each bag helps make a complete holiday meal possible.

Want to contribute? Email [email protected] to coordinate your donation, and drop off your filled bag at the Peekskill Firehouse on November 19 or 20. Thank you for being part of a community that shows up for one another!

As temperatures begin to drop, looking out for one another becomes especially important. If you know someone in the Peekskill community who could use support, please have them reach out to us. We’re here to help connect our neighbors with resources and support.
