Meet Ginger! 🐾❤️

This brave girl recently visited the Pearland Animal Resource Center vet clinic to have two masses removed. We are happy to report that her procedure went smoothly, and she did fantastic throughout her surgery and recovery! Just look at that sweet, resilient smile. 😊✨

Why Checking for Masses Matters

Ginger’s visit is a great reminder for all pet parents: regularly check your dogs for new lumps, bumps, or masses.

Early Detection Saves Lives: While many lumps turn out to be benign fatty deposits or cysts, some can be serious or cancerous. Finding them early makes treatment much easier and more effective.

Make It a Habit: Run your hands over your dog’s coat during grooming or belly-rub sessions. Pay attention to changes in size, shape, or firmness.

When in Doubt, Get It Checked: If you notice a new mass or a sudden change in an existing one, schedule a quick checkup with your vet right away.

Did you know that Pearland Animal Resource Center started off as a dog rescue?

Opening in 2019, Wag Again Rescue is the parent company of PARC. Since its inception, WAR has saved over 1,200 dogs from local shelters and placed them in their furever homes across the United States (one dog is even in England now!).

Realizing that the high cost of veterinary care was one of the biggest issues affecting pet parents and the decisions to surrender, dump, rehome, or euthanize, WAR opened up The Pearland Canine Resource Center in 2021. The goal of PCRC was to help pet parents get affordable, high-quality care for their four-legged family members.

Since opening in 2021, PCRC has kept thousands of pets in their homes and has helped more than half of its clients better take care of themselves with our low costs.

WAR has hung up their traditional rescue boots; their focus has been on prevention and working in collaboration with other amazing rescues in the area to help attack the overpopulation problem from both sides, pre- and post-shelter. If we can keep pets from entering the shelter and other rescues can continue to rescue from shelters, together we can help to bring the overpopulation problem down to zero.

Shifu recently visited the Pearland Animal Resource Center Non-Profit Clinic for a routine dental cleaning, leaving with a fresher, healthier smile!

We have some amazing news to share! 🎉

Clavo, has officially been ADOPTED! We couldn't be more excited to see him embark on this incredible new journey. Clavo will be training to become an ADA service dog, and we know he's going to make a huge impact on his new owner's life.

Thank you to Clavo's wonderful new momma for giving him this opportunity! Let's wish him all the luck in the world as he starts his training.

🐾 Great News for Little London Dior! 🐾

This sweet 11-week-old girl, London Dior, stopped by Pearland Animal Resource Center for a follow-up vet exam with Dr. Michelsen! 🐶❤️

She’s been fighting off flea anemia, and we are thrilled to share that her repeat lab work came back so much better!

Most importantly, London Dior is feeling much better and showing off her adorable, resilient spirit (and getting all the shoulder snuggles she deserves)! 🩺✨

This sweet girl visited us today at Pearland Animal Resource Center to get treated for tapeworms!

Despite her recent uninvited guests, Frida was an absolute star during her check-up and is well on her way to feeling 100% again. 💙

With the Texas summer heat in full swing, tapeworms can become much more common in our pets. Here’s what every pet parent should know to keep their furry family members safe! ☀️🐶🐱

☀️ Why Texas Summers Mean Higher Tapeworm Risk

The Flea Connection: Dogs and cats don't usually catch tapeworms directly from each other—they get them by accidentally swallowing infected fleas or flea eggs while grooming or licking themselves.

Peak Flea Season: Texas heat and humidity create the perfect breeding ground for fleas, leading to a major spike in flea activity during the summer months.

🛡️ How to Protect Your Pets
🛑 Year-Round Flea Prevention: Keeping your pets on a consistent, year-round flea preventive (oral, topical, or injectable) is the #1 line of defense against tapeworms!
🏡 Treat Your Home & Yard: Fleas love shady spots in the yard and carpet fibers indoors. Keeping your lawn trimmed and vacuuming carpets frequently helps disrupt flea life cycles.

Meet sweet Marceline! She is at the Pearland Animal Resource Center today to get spayed, taking an important step toward a long, happy, and healthy life.
