Dear City Council Members,
We have learned of potential harmful cuts to the branch libraries. Please note the impact on the community, especially young families in Peabody who depend on these branches. Libraries are also seeing a marked increase in visitors as more and more people struggle with basic needs and resources.
Thank you for your time and attention.
With the proposed closure of the South and West branch libraries from 5-9PM on Tuesdays and 1-5PM on Wednesdays, the following service impacts are anticipated:
-Reduced access to library services, collections, public computers, printing, and Wi-Fi during regularly scheduled open hours.
-Limited evening access for working adults, students, and families who rely on library services outside of school and work hours.
-Reduced availability of after-school and evening programming for children, teens, and adults.
-Fewer opportunities for families to visit the library together during non-working hours.
Reduced access to study space, meeting rooms, and quiet work areas.
-Decreased availability of staff assistance for reference, research, technology help, and readers' advisory services.
-Increased demand and potential crowding during remaining open hours.
-Reduced access to neighborhood library services for residents with limited transportation options.
-Fewer opportunities for community engagement, lifelong learning, and social connection through branch library activities and services.
Sincerely, a concerned community member, (Your name here)
