⚓ ILA Local 1351 – 92 Years Strong ⚓

Today, June 8th, we proudly celebrate 92 years of ILA Local 1351.

Since receiving our charter on June 8, 1934, generations of dedicated longshoremen and waterfront workers have built a legacy of hard work, solidarity, and union strength. Through every challenge and every victory, our members have stood together to keep our ports moving, support our families, and strengthen our communities.

Today, we honor the brothers and sisters who came before us, thank those who continue to carry our union forward, and look ahead to the future with pride and determination.

For 92 years, our strength has never come from any one individual. It has come from the unity, dedication, and brotherhood and sisterhood of the members of Local 1351.

Built by those who came before us. Strengthened by those who stand with us today.

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As Union brothers and sisters, we understand the meaning of sacrifice, solidarity, and standing together for something greater than ourselves. Today we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and keep their families in our thoughts.

May we never forget their courage, their service, and the debt we owe them.

Port Houston surpassed 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the first quarter of 2026, reaching 1,087,870 TEUs, up 2% over 2025’s record-breaking year. Total tonnage across Port Houston’s public facilities was up 5% in the first quarter, totaling 13,897,479 short tons.

Port Houston handled 391,037 TEUs in March, up 1% compared to the same month last year. Loaded imports increased 7% for the month and 4% year-to-date, driven in part by strong demand for refrigerated cargo and retail consumer goods such as furniture. Read more, https://na2.hubs.ly/H0533Gl0
