PASADENA POLICE OFFICERS UNION RESPONDS TO COUNCILMEMBER GUERRERO
The Pasadena Police Officers Union has had enough of seeing our members publicly attacked based on accusations, assumptions, and information that has not been properly vetted.
Councilmember Emmanuel Guerrero chose to release a statement naming officers, questioning promotions, attacking command staff, and raising serious credibility allegations against individual members of this department.
If he is going to make accusations that serious, then he needs to back them up.
What we have seen so far appears to be negligent information provided by his sources, repeated publicly without the full facts and without regard for the damage those accusations can do to officers, their families, and their careers.
He also chose to place the City of Pasadena seal and City branding on the statement, giving it the appearance of an official City position. That should concern every employee in this City. When an elected official uses the City’s name and seal to attack employees, there needs to be accountability for the accuracy of what is being published.
We are not afraid of transparency. We are not afraid of investigations. We are not afraid of facts.
But we will not sit quietly while allegations are treated as convictions.
If Councilmember Guerrero has proof, release it.
If he has records, show them.
If he does not, then he needs to stop putting police officers on public trial through press releases.
Our members deserve due process just like everyone else.
The Pasadena Police Officers Union will continue to stand behind our officers, and we will not allow political accusations to go unanswered.
