Please join the Board of Directors in congratulating Brayden Plunkert and Alley Schline for winning this year's Bill Yingling Memorial Scholarships! These $500 scholarships are awarded to the boy and girl who bowl the highest 3-game set during league play in February. Brayden, a junior from Mt. Airy, rolled an amazing 518 set (137, 208, 173) on 2/5. Alley, a major from AMF Southwest, rolled an awesome 431 set (128, 146, 157) on 2/7. Way to go Alley and Brayden!

This award was established in 2003 in memory of staunch NDYA supporter Bill Yingling, husband of long-time Program Director Carol Yingling. Mr. Bill was a special man who dedicated much of his life to duckpin bowling, and served behind the scenes in the NDYA for many years.

Please join the NDYA Board of Directors in congratulating the 2026 winners of the NDYA Meritorious $500 Scholarships - Lily Sieck and Johnny Evans! Lily is a major from Parkville Lanes. She rolled an outstanding 447 set on 1/17/2026 which is 81 pins over her 122 average. Johnny is a p*e wee from AMF Southwest. He rolled an amazing 270 set on 1/13/2026 which is 87 pins over his 61 average.

This scholarship is given out annually to the girl and boy who bowl the most pins over their average during a specific week in January. This year's awards are presented in honor of Ms. Kathy Lischio of Rhode Island.

In late 2025, our long-time friend and awesome Vice President, Kathy Lischio, retired from the NDYA Board after many years of stellar service. Kathy's extensive duckpin industry expertise, staunch passion for bowlers of all ages, and unwavering commitment to youth duckpin bowling was crucial to the continued success of our Board and the entire NDYA program. Five years ago, Kathy, along with Board Member Sue Herron, transformed our Annual National Tournament by orchestrating the addition of an Open Tournament for singles, doubles, triples, and all-events in order to give more bowlers the opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of the National Tournament. They also researched and oversaw the purchase and sale of logo merchandise that gave participants memorable items and helped advertise the NDYA program. Kathy has served as center coach and program director at Wickford Lanes, State Director for Rhode Island, NDYA Board member, and NDYA Vice President. She's no slouch when it comes to bowling talent either. She set many world records, won numerous major tournaments, and was inducted into the NDBC Hall of Fame for Superior Performance in 2007. We are so grateful for Kathy's friendship and meritorious service to our program. Happy Retirement Kathy! You deserve it!

Here's the entry form for this year's Thanksgiving Weekend Youth-Adult Tournament & Food Drive at Glen Burnie Bowl! Adults don't have to be bowlers to participate and have fun; they just need to be able to handle having their youth bowlers beat their scores... :-)
