Good morning from Albuquerque!

All 39 participants arrived safely from across the U.S. and the 2026 St George Trek is underway!

Yesterday afternoon we gathered in-person for the first time and our Scouts began forming the bonds with their trek crew members. It was fantastic seeing everyone laughing and bonding. Following Mass celebrated by Bishop Mike Fisher (Diocese of Buffalo) our Scouts spent more time meeting as crews before going to sleep.

Today our crews will be attending classes focusing on leadership, communication - conflict management, vocations and holding various equipment shakedown activities. They are all preparing both spiritually and physically all while drinking plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Tomorrow morning we depart at 6 AM for Philmont where they will participate in Day 1 activities, to include: a Philmont base camp tour, collecting crew equipment and route planning. Following Mass at the Philmont Catholic chapel we will attend the opening show. On Saturday morning we all head out on the trail!

Crew 1 was busy at the end of their meeting.
We are useful and creative. We have several shelters along with a few million poles. We're not sure how many sets we have so we decided to set it up inside of our scout room. 🤣
Many can relate - it’s like the new tent arrived so let’s set it up inside of the living room. 🤣
