We’ll have two booths to explore: one where you can learn about our makerspace, including membership, equipment, programs, and ways to get involved, and another featuring Made@ Monumental Impact — products and projects created by budding entrepreneurs and volunteers in our community, with some available for purchase in our online catalog.

Monumental Impact is in the news again! This time, Melody Alvarez of Pikes Peak Library District and Mike Hinkle of Monumental Impact spoke with KKTV 11 News to show off some custom-built robots and spread the word about All Pikes Peak Makes.

All Pikes Peak Makes is a celebration of creativity, innovation, and the joy of hands-on discovery, taking place this Saturday October 24th at PPLD’s LIbrary21C from 10am to 2pm!

What can you expect? Robots in action, creations from our Made@Monumental Impact entrepreneurship program students, and makers across the Pikes Peak region sharing their creations!

With KOAA 5 – We just got recognized as one of their top fans! 🎉

Monumental Impact’s very own Bionic Sharks Robotics robotics team made the news! 🦈 They spoke with KOAA 5 about the FIRST Tech Challenge, a worldwide robotics competition.

Building a competition-ready robot takes serious work. As one student shared, their robot took more than 100 hours of 3D printing alone, before assembly and programming.

But the experience goes beyond building robots. Students develop hands-on skills that can help prepare them for the future. As one team member put it:

"I'm definitely going to study computer science in school, so this is setting me up."

For Executive Director Jeanette Breton, success means giving students the opportunity to explore their interests and gain practical experience.

Looking for something different to do the weekend before Thanksgiving? Join Monumental Impact for our 6th Annual MITEE Gobble Squabble, a day of robotics and community in the Tri-Lakes!

⚙️ Watch robots compete. Catch combat robots in action at Robot Chaos, see competitors take on the Open Robotics Competition, and watch student teams put their designs and strategies to the test at the FTC BIOBUZZ Scrimmage.

🤖 Bring a robot and compete! Experienced competitors and first-time builders are welcome and you don't need a Monumental Impact membership to enter!

🍂 Fall has arrived, and so has fall making!

With the holidays not far behind, now is a great time to start thinking about seasonal projects, decorations, gifts, and all the things you might want to make before the holiday season arrives.

Curious about Monumental Impact but not sure where to start? Bring a friend, family member, or neighbor along! Orientation is a great way to learn about the makerspace, the equipment, membership, quarterly programs, and ways to get involved.

Don’t miss the chance to see what our community is making! Join us on Friday, September 25, from 4:30 to 6:00 for our Makers Showcase.

Monumental Impact is a community of makers who pursue their curiosity through our space, equipment, and mentorship, creating all kinds of projects, experiments, and works in progress.

This guest-friendly event is an opportunity for members, students, mentors, and makers to share what they’ve been working on. You’ll see project demos and displays, as well as informal show-and-tell, and have the chance to talk with makers about what they’re working on.

Our robotics team, the Bionic Sharks, have also started setting up their FIRST Tech Challenge BIOBUZZ field. If you’re curious about our robotics team and want to hear the buzz about this year’s game, this is a great opportunity to check it out.

Monumental Impact has been out in the community, sharing what our members know!

Over the past few months, we’ve partnered with Pikes Peak Library District to offer hands-on workshops led by members of the Monumental Impact community.

As a community makerspace where students and adults explore robotics, technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, art, and hands-on making, our members have a lot of knowledge and experience to share!

Some of the workshops we’ve hosted recently include:

🤖 Combat Robotics: Participants new to robotics learned the basics of designing, building, and testing combat robots. Working in small teams, they assembled their robots and then put them to the test in a friendly competition. Check out the videos below!

🔧 Soldering: Participants learned basic soldering safety, tools, and techniques, then put their new skills to work by assembling a simple electronics project.

Our next PPLD workshop is a two-session introduction to Blender for 3D printing, happening September 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Blender is a powerful, free software tool for creating artistic and organic 3D models. Participants will explore the basics of Blender, learn how 3D models are created and adjusted, and get an introduction to preparing designs to move from the screen to a physical 3D-printed object.

Whether you’re interested in digital design, cosplay, art, robotics parts, or just exploring what 3D printing can do, this workshop is a great place to start.

We’ve made some equipment upgrades to give our members even more opportunities to create, learn, and bring their ideas to life.

All of our check-out 3D printers are now three times faster, thanks to improvements made by our community member Jonathan! Take a look at one in action 👇

Want to make something with multi-colors and/or multi-materials? Our members can do that, too! We recently got TWO NEW Snapmaker U1 3D printers through a Benefactor Level Sponsorship from Gleneagle Sertoma.

And that’s just a small part of what’s available and happening at Monumental Impact.
