The Sheltering Oxford (SOx) Board has officially named an Executive Director for Oxford Winter House, after learning that Cindy Carpenter regretfully had to resign the position due to health issues. Deb Wells, MSW, has accepted this position.

Deb has over 30 years of work in housing and homelessness. She has worked in Butler County for more than 10 years and currently provides outreach services to unsheltered individuals, connecting resources, services, and landlords. Deb served as a consultant to OWH in 2025–2026, providing invaluable insights and guidance. She looks forward to working with the 2026-2027 OWH guests and staff as well as the wider community of service providers.

Sharing on behalf of Oxford Responds: An opportunity to make a meaningful difference for our neighbors in need. Join us!

THE NEED:
There is a common misconception that because Talawanda Oxford Pantry & Social Services (TOPSS) recently opened its new facility, its shelves are full and resources are plentiful. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The need for food and financial assistance continues to grow, while donations are currently down. With your help, we can help change that.

THE RESPONSE:
Oxford Responds is hosting a food drive to help replenish the shelves at TOPSS on Wednesday, September 16. Please join us at the Seminary Building (104 E. Church Street) for an evening of giving, fellowship, and learning more about the important work TOPSS is doing in our community.

4:00 p.m. — Doors open (drop off donations anytime between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m)

5:00 p.m. — Pizza and community connection

6:00 p.m. — Load donations and head to TOPSS for a tour of its new facility

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1. Organize a mini food drive and drop off the donations at the Seminary on September 16.
Reach out to your neighbors, coworkers, faith community, book club, sports team, or other social groups and collect donations together.

2. Spread the word.
Please share the attached flier on social media and with your friends, neighbors, and community groups. The more people we reach, the greater our impact!

3. Support TOPSS financially.
Consider making a monetary donation or signing up for a recurring monthly gift. Even a small monthly contribution provides TOPSS with reliable support it can count on throughout the year. We can help you sign up at the meeting on September 16!

Please note the date change! Our September meeting has been moved from our regular third Thursday because the Talawanda Homecoming Parade is scheduled for Thursday, September 17. We will meet instead on Wednesday, September 16.

Let’s come together on September 16 and show what our community can accomplish when we each do our part.
