THAT’S A WRAP ON TRAVEL TRYOUTS!

Well, almost… Junior Gold, you’re still on the clock!

After several VERY busy weeks at the rink, OMGHA travel tryouts are officially complete.
We want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to our incredible Travel Operations Team and the countless volunteers who have dedicated SO many hours to making this process run smoothly!

From our directors coordinating all the moving pieces to the food runners keeping everyone fed, the check-in crews, locker room volunteers, door openers, clock operators, and everyone in between, WE APPRECIATE YOU!

The amount of behind-the-scenes work that goes into running tryouts for an association our size is incredible. Long days, late nights, endless schedules, and a whole lot of organized chaos. Somehow, you make it all look easy!

We sincerely thank each and every one of you for your time, dedication, patience, and commitment to OMGHA.

Our association simply couldn’t do this without you!

Now, who’s ready for hockey season?!

We’re excited to introduce our NEW Bantam A coaching staff for this season! And somehow, four guys from Andover, C**n Rapids, Anoka and ALASKA all ended up together at OMGHA.

From left to right:

HC: Grant Folkestad – Andover
AC: Jackson Schroer – Anoka
AC: Logan Hulse – originally from Alaska
AC: Matt Ellenson – C**n Rapids

These four have plenty of hockey history together! Grant and Matt played summer hockey together when they were younger and reconnected last year while coaching Champlin Park Bantams. Jackson and Logan met while playing hockey at Bethel University.

All four also coach and help run Red Black Hockey and share a passion for developing young players, growing the game and contributing to Minnesota’s hockey culture.

They’re ready for a great season at OMGHA! Developing players, building a strong team culture and, apparently, growing mustaches.

We’re thrilled to welcome Grant, Jackson, Logan and Matt to OMGHA!

Happy National Coaches Day! 🏒

Today we celebrate the HUNDREDS of incredible coaches who make OMGHA hockey possible, both on the ice and behind the scenes.

From teaching first-time skaters how to hold a stick to developing our most experienced players, our coaches give countless hours, energy and heart to our kids and this game.

You teach. You encourage. You challenge. You organize. You inspire. And you show up! Practice after practice and game after game.

We truly couldn’t do it without you.

On behalf of everyone at OMGHA, THANK YOU to all of our amazing coaches for everything you do for our players and our hockey community! ❤️🏒

⭐ Open to players even if you don’t live in the OMGHA boundaries
⭐ December preseason practices with OMGHA
⭐ Beginning in January: approximately 1 practice + 1 game per week
⭐ Minnesota Hockey Recreation League games around the Twin Cities
⭐ NO volunteer hours required!
⭐ A great stepping stone for players who may want to move into Travel Hockey in the future
