🎉🔑🏡 Reflecting on last week’s 100th Home Dedication Ceremony, our hearts are full of gratitude and pride. What an incredible day it was to gather as a community and celebrate not only our 100th home and our 100th Habitat Family Partner, but also the first home on our 100th Home Block, a milestone made possible by the hard work, generosity, and partnership of so many. 🩵
This ceremony was about more than just a house. It was about Sherrell’s remarkable journey and her perseverance, determination, and commitment to building a better future for herself and her family. From literally building her home to completing financial literacy and homeownership education courses and serving as an advocate for our mission, she exemplifies what a Habitat Family Partner is. Sherrell’s dedication reminds us of the power of hope and opportunity.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for every single person who came out to celebrate this monumental milestone and for the countless lives that have been impacted through affordable homeownership. Completing our 100th home is a testament to what is possible when a community comes together around a shared vision of ensuring everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home.
A special thank you goes to the many community leaders and partners who stood with us on this historic occasion including City of Orangeburg Mayor Michael Butler, State Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter, Councilwoman Keitt, Councilwoman Grevious, City Administrator Sidney Keitt, Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce President James McQuilla, Allied Air Enterprises Representative Jason Gallegly, SC State 1890 Research & Extension, SC State Public Service and Agriculture’s Liz Mosley, our Edisto Habitat Board of Directors Mike Holinko, Tom Kerr, Trudi Simmons, and Barbara Williams. We are especially grateful to Apostle Keitt-Little for her inspiring words of encouragement and blessing over this home and family.
Thank you to Trinity Masonic Lodge #559 in Rowesville, SC for sponsoring lunch and providing refreshments that kept our volunteers energized and hydrated throughout the day.
Our sincere appreciation also goes to CPM Federal Credit Union - Orangeburg, The Orangeburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., EmpowerHer ABWA Chapter Orangeburg SC, Orangeburg Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, Orangeburg SC Lions Club, First Presbyterian Church of Orangeburg, SC, First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, S.C. Carpenters for Christ, our dedicated Edisto Habitat Board of Directors, our incredible Build Crew, City of Orangeburg inspectors, and the many volunteers who gave their time and talents to make this day possible.
At Edisto Habitat, we know that safe, affordable housing transforms lives. Every home we build lays the foundation for stability, educational success, and self-reliance.
While we are proud of how far we’ve come, our work is not done. There are still families waiting for the opportunity to achieve the stability and security of homeownership. Together, we can continue building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and to all who have supported us along the way. Here’s to the next 100 homes and the lives we will change together!
