Not only is this a historic win for the UAW and all our members but a historic strike fund means we can pay our members if we have to strike longer and get BIG wins at the bargaining table.

This years Constitutional Convention is focused on the importance of member democracy, strengthening the union through organizing efforts, and setting priorities that will guide us, the UAW over the next four years.

The SAVE Act (H.R. 22) would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. It sounds simple until you consider who it hits the hardest:

Married women and others who changed their legal name may have to track down additional paperwork to match records like birth certificates, marriage certificates, and updated ID. This leads to delays and barriers for eligible voters.

Natural disasters can destroy important documents like passports, birth certificates, and ID’s, and replacing them can take time, cost money in additional fees, and create additional obstacles to surmount. If voting relies on having the right documents at the right time, then disaster survivors can be effectively locked out.

If your name changed, your rights shouldn’t. If you have survived disaster, voter hindrance should not be an obstacle in your recovery.

Contact your U.S. Senators and tell them: Protect election integrity without putting new barriers on eligible voters – especially women and disaster-impacted families.

Call Congress: (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Senator’s office. Your voice matters!
