This past Sunday, every woman at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center received a Mother’s Day card and cookie, and it started right here. 💛

A few weeks ago, volunteers gathered with TEEM and Life.Church Britton & Broadway to write 1,400 handwritten cards and assemble treat bags for the women at MBCC.

Thank you to everyone who helped make sure 1,400 women were reminded this Mother’s Day that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Last week, we gathered to celebrate the Community Sentencing Graduation—honoring a group of individuals who have committed to growth, accountability, and change. Two participants stood to share their stories—offering a glimpse into the work it took to get here and the determination it takes to move forward.

Moments like these remind us what this program is really about… creating space for second chances and building a path ahead.

It’s Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon weekend. Across Oklahoma, people are showing up to run, to remember, and to reflect.

On April 19th, we had the opportunity to do the same with the women inside Mabel Bassett Correctional Center.

Our second annual Oklahoma Memorial 5K at Mabel Bassett created space for the women to take part in that same act of remembrance— as Oklahomans who carry the same experience and connection to this day.

It wasn’t about pace or distance. It was about showing up, moving forward, and being part of something that connects all of us.

Meet Kayton, Shyille, and Dajuan!
Through the TEEM Youth Advisory Board Scholarship, these three are taking powerful steps toward their futures.
Kayton, a participant in our Community Sentencing program, is using her scholarship to become a Certified Nursing Assistant—pursuing a path rooted in care, compassion, and stability.
Shyille, a participant in our Pretrial Release program, is headed to cosmetology and esthetician school, working toward becoming a licensed esthetician and building a career in the beauty industry.
Dajuan, a participant in our Reentry program, will be attending Central Oklahoma College for barber school—pursuing a skilled trade and building a career with purpose.

This scholarship exists to remove financial barriers and create real opportunities for young adults pursuing education and career training—and these three are exactly why it matters. Three different paths. One shared commitment to growth, purpose, and a fresh start.
