Yesterday, TEEM attended Impact Oklahoma’s Luncheon and reflected on the Transformation Grant we received in 2014. That grant laid the groundwork for our women’s reentry work and helped establish a lasting commitment to women in Oklahoma impacted by incarceration.

In 2022, with that foundation and the support of other grants and partnerships, TEEM brought its Scholarship Initiative inside Mabel Bassett Correctional Center. This initiative creates opportunities for the women of MBCC to pursue education and invest in their futures.

We are especially grateful to Dan Little and former U.S. Congressman J.C. Watts for the leadership and commitment they have brought to the Scholarship Initiative. They have helped turn a shared belief in women’s potential into meaningful opportunity. Their involvement remind us of what can happen when people come together and choose to invest in someone’s future.

Last week, we collaborated with Life.Church and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections to bring Sisters to Mabel Bassett Correctional Center. For an afternoon, the yard filled with music as women raised their hands and voices in worship, shared in community, and heard a message of hope delivered live at Mabel Bassett by Pastor Amy Groeschel.

Throughout the day, women shared that their mothers, sisters, cousins and friends had attended, or were planning to attend Sisters at Life.Church locations in their own communities. Though separated by walls and circumstance, they were able to share in the same experience and hear the same message.

The women received a Sisters devotional, snacks and water, and the opportunity to be reminded that they are seen, valued and worthy of hope.

We are incredibly grateful to Life.Church, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Mabel Bassett staff, our TEEM team, and every volunteer who helped make this day possible.

On Friday, August 21, Don and Shellie Greiner generously donated 114 pairs of running shoes to active participants in the Prison Health Initiative (PHI) at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center!

PHI is designed to promote physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual health through a holistic approach to wellness. Thanks to the Greiners’ generosity, PHI participants will now have a fresh pair of kicks to support them as they run, exercise and work through their rigorous routines.

We are incredibly grateful to Don and Shellie for investing in these women and helping them continue moving forward—one step at a time!

Last week, TEEM hit the road for our annual United Way campaign! 🚗💙

Each year, our team comes together to support United Way of Central Oklahoma and the network of local nonprofits working with TEEM every day to make our community stronger. By giving to United Way, we’re investing in organizations and resources that help our neighbors find stability, opportunity, and support when they need it most.

Of course, we had to have a little fun along the way! Our Route 66-themed campaign week included Western Dress-Up Day 🤠, bottle cap magnet making, a Cruisin’ for Cookies Bake-Off 🍪, and plenty of friendly competition during Route 66 Trivia!

We’re grateful for a staff that believes in showing up for our community, and knows how to have a good time while doing it. 💙

NAPSA stands for the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies, and this recognition is a reflection of our team’s commitment to meeting national standards and providing exceptional pretrial services.

We are so proud of this incredible team and their well-deserved achievement. Their dedication continues to make a difference in our community every day!

We’re looking back on a special Father’s Day spent with the men at Clara Waters Community Correctional Center!

Through handwritten cards, cookies, and meaningful conversations, our team had the privilege of sharing encouragement and reminding the men we serve that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who supports TEEM’s mission and makes opportunities like this possible. Every act of kindness helps remind someone that hope is always possible and that every person deserves the chance for a fresh start.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation

When James first came to TEEM through the Pretrial program, he knew his life wasn’t headed in the direction he wanted. Stuck in unhealthy habits and patterns of thinking, he found himself reacting to life instead of taking control of it. Eventually, those choices caught up with him, and he realized he was capable of much more than the path he was on.

During his time with TEEM, James faced setbacks, but rather than allowing those challenges to define him, he chose to take accountability for his actions and commit to making meaningful changes in his life.

As James transitioned from Pretrial into Community Sentencing, he embraced the structure and accountability that helped him move forward. Through the process, he learned how to slow down, think through his decisions, and respond to challenges with greater discipline and purpose. He developed healthier habits, strengthened his sense of responsibility, and gained a clearer vision for the future he wanted to build.

What began as involvement in the justice system became an opportunity for transformation. By committing to the work and remaining focused on his goals, James was able to break old patterns and create a new path for himself.

Today, James serves as the Operations Manager for Texoma Traffic & Environmental, a newly established company where he is trusted with leadership responsibilities and plays a key role in helping build the business from the ground up. He maintains stable housing, remains committed to making positive choices, and continues to grow both personally and professionally.

“TEEM wasn’t just a requirement… it was a turning point,” James shared. “It gave me structure, direction, and people who genuinely wanted to see me succeed.”

James’ journey is a powerful reminder that lasting change is possible. Through perseverance, accountability, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities, he has transformed his life and is building a future filled with purpose, stability, and hope.
