Club Meeting 05/12/2026
Our guest speaker this week was Steve Nelson, Owner of Okeechobee Discount Drugs. Steve has a heart for community service, and spoke to our club about the ways in which he serves our community through his work and business as well as in his free time. He also spoke to us about the ways in which certain medications may interact with vitamins, and answered all of our questions. Thank you Steve for coming to speak to our club!

The Rotary Club of Okeechobee is proud to recognize our 2026 Scholarship recipients for their outstanding leadership, academic achievement, and commitment to serving others. Congratulations to Oseana Huidobro-Albarado, recipient of the Service Above Self Scholarship; Gabriela Aguirre Garcia, recipient of the John Ed Burdeshaw Memorial Scholarship; and Albert “AJ” Davis, recipient of the Carl T. Durrance Memorial Scholarship. Together, these exceptional students contributed more than 1,400 service hours to our community through programs supporting hunger relief, youth activities, healthcare, churches, schools, and nonprofit organizations. Their dedication to helping others truly reflects Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” and we are honored to support them as they pursue careers in healthcare and continue their education at colleges across Florida.

The Rotary Club of Okeechobee is proud to support our community in so many meaningful ways. This year, one of those efforts included providing a teacher mini grant. Through that grant, a 2nd grade class was able to go on a field trip and experience learning beyond the classroom walls.
We were especially touched to receive a heartfelt letter from the teacher, along with a collection of sweet thank-you cards from the students. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.
We’re so glad you enjoyed your trip and had the opportunity to learn in a new and exciting way!
