What a difference a decade (plus) makes. The 2022 JUUL settlement forced the company to pay an initial $438.5 million across 34 states and territories, with the total potentially reaching $476.6 million depending on the extended payment framework over six to ten years. As a lead negotiator, Connecticut secured a minimum of $16.2 million from the pot, legally dedicating 100% of these funds to youth v**e prevention and cessation programs.
In addition to the financial penalties, the court-ordered injunctions placed a permanent ban on youth-targeted promotions by prohibiting the company from:
-Using cartoons, paid product placement, or models under 35 in any advertising.
-Selling branded apparel or merchandise popular among teens. -----Funding school educational programs or hosting youth-centric promotional launch parties.
-Marketing its e-cigarettes as official smoking cessation devices without formal FDA approval.

Unfortunately, the FDA authorized fruit-flavored v**es for the very first time on May 5, 2026... Stay tuned!

The FDA announced the first authorization of fruit-flavored e-cigarettes after months of appeals to President Donald Trump from the va**ng industry. The decision is certain to be opposed by health groups and parent organizations that have long pointed to flavors as the driver behind underage va**ng.
