Hey students! Here’s an offer that can’t be beat! 👇🏼

Hey high schoolers - summer is almost here … want to come to Raleigh and shadow me?!

Today I welcomed Samhitha Madhan Mohan who is a rising senior at Middle College at A&T. She joined my meetings with Greensboro Regional Realtors Association, NC Academy of Physician Associates, and Triad Health Project. She attended a press conference with me championing three needed judicial conflict of interest bills by my colleagues. And I briefed her on the seven bills (and 19 amendments!) being voted on today ahead of sitting on the floor with me to hear debate.

Thanks for coming, Samhitha! If you would like to shadow me, please email my LA Megan at [email protected].

🌿 Healthy Support for Gifted Children

Children with gifted traits often need:

❤️ emotional safety
🌱 freedom to explore
📚 intellectual stimulation
🎨 creativity
🐾 nature and animals
🤝 understanding adults
🧭 mentors
⏳ time without pressure

The goal should not be creating “elite children,” but helping children develop into balanced, healthy, compassionate human beings.

Vote for representatives who care about public schools!

I demand transparency in nearly $600M of our annual taxpayer dollars going into the private school voucher program. I was proud to lead bill HB 1184 Voucher School Transparency Act with 20 other Democrats to request the State Auditor to audit the program. But I didn’t stop there.

I built rapport with Auditor Boliek after attending a Greensboro Rotary meeting where he spoke, and he accepted a meeting with me to further discuss. We are both UNC Journalism alumni and hit it off. He told me an audit is already underway and we discussed all of the elements I wanted to see reported ( # ghost students/schools; # boomerang kids; how to assess ROI considering only 42% of schools accepting vouchers are accredited and only 8.5% report outcomes; concern of separation of church vs state given that over 90% accepting vouchers have a religious affiliation; is it truly ‘opportunity’ if there are discriminatory enrollment processes in place; etc). It was an extremely productive meeting and he told me the audit should be published by the end of October. I will certainly hold him to that promise! 💪💯
