Can you see the dog?
Can you see him now?
This dog was there for 5 days. Invisible.
No one could see him, but, what’s worse, he couldn’t see anyone either. You see, this dog is blind.
We don’t know if he fell into that fetid canal after getting lost or was dumped there days ago. We don’t know if someone put him there hoping he’d vanish into the filth when enough time had passed.
But not only did he not vanish, we saved him today.
A good Samaritan would hear him whimper at night, when all was quiet and dark and no one could see him. Animals will stay quiet when they are babies, ill or injured so they don’t attract predators, so this blind dog would keep quiet all day long, and at night, he would let go a quiet howl, just to release his loneliness, his fright, his hunger.
Five days he lay there, unseen, until she saw him. She brought him food and water, and she posted him asking for help. I was around, close by, and I responded. He is safe with me now.
We need some funds to take him to the vet. I’m sure that laying in that waste surely must’ve done something to his immune system. We need a rescue to receive him with open arms and the promise that he will never live a day like that ever again.
He is about 5 years old and about 15 lbs. He’s a bit chunky, he must have had a life until he didn’t. He can walk, he just didn’t dare – which considering where he was, was a smart thing.
