Rhode Island Magic The RI Magic is a youth basketball program for boys’ grades 2-12 and girls' grades 4th-12th.

Our top 9th, 10th, and Varsity teams are part of Hoop Group's high-exposure league(HGAL), competing in top venues against the most challenging competition.

7th grade Zanella finished pool play going 3-0 defeating Butler Basketball to advance to the semi-finals. John Arena (10 pts, 11 rebounds), Tayvanh Phiuphonphan (7 pts), and Landon Manchester (6 pts, 3 steals) set the tone early offensively and defensively. Cohen Fletcher (11 pts, 3 steals) and Jake Zanella (8 pts, 5 steals) provide sparks of the bench to seal the win. Next up… semifinals!

6th Harmon finished the ZG Ocean State Tournament 2-1!

Battling some injuries, they got some great contributions from some key players off the bench. Kellan Williams, Ronan Quish, and Charlie Ziud had an awesome weekend offensively. Kellan had one of his best weekends offensively this season! Luca Martinelli, Liam DaRosa, Garrett Sullivan played great defensively and made some solid contributions offensively. Grady Guliokas and Marshall Lepine were strong on both the offensive and defensive boards!

7th grade Zanella finished day one of the Zero Gravity Ocean State Showdown with a 2-0 record!

The first game was 33-18 win over Force OPs. Offensively, the team was led by John Arena’s 14 points. Defensively, it was a team effort totaling 15 steals and limiting the opposition to 6 points in the 2nd half. The second game was 46-29 win over the CT Wolves. Cohen Percival led the team offensively with 14 points. Dyland Paulino pitched in with 10 points but his defense was tremendous leading the team with 3 steals.

Varsity Branch open up the ZG King of the Court tournament 2-0 with a 40-33 win over Rip City and a 53-38 win over HBE. Leading the day in scoring were Myles Butler, 17 pts, Apollo Hernandez, 12 pts, Jacob Chevrette, 11 points, and Zane Turner adding 9 pts. Dominating the boards in both games were Collin Aul-Branch and Anthony Moquete combining for 35+ offensive and defensive boards. Wesley Horan played outstanding defense, shutting down the opponents offense all night. Great TEAM wins!

9th Branch start the ZG King of the Court tournament 2–0 with wins over Rip City Red and B2L-Axel!

Leading the day in scoring were Shane Aul-Branch with 13 pts in game one and 9pts in game two. Jhonathan Guzman, 11 pts, Noah D’Agostino, 9 pts, and Josh Ruggieri with 7 pts hitting two clutch 3-pointers. Outstanding hustle and rebounding all day from Sean Wood, Luke Zorian, and Ethan Sodhi, crashing the boards on both ends of the floor. Ian Astacio and Ethan Fuller played excellent defense, shutting down the opponents offense in the paint while Jaydasyn Villa and Alex Colvin helped set the tone on offense with their speed, ball movement and combining for multiple assists. Great team basketball!

9th Major bounced back from an opening game loss to knock off the East Bay Swarm, 55-39. Down 33-32 with 6 minutes to play, defensive stops by Timmy Major and Joey Broccoli turned to offense from Nick Mancini and Styles Montiero. They’ll be back at it on Sunday at noon for a chance to qualify for the championship game with a win.

5th Fredrickson, opened up their tourney 1-1 today. Two solid games with great overall effort by everyone. Lino DeQuattro put on a shooting expedition in the first game and the second game Joey Farrar took over and let us to the win!

7th Gelfuso opens up their tourney with a 1-1 start. They beat RI Wildcats early on, before falling to the Knights in the second game. Amare Munoz and Jaxson Capehart each scored 10 points to lead an overall balanced scoring attack in the win, where everyone got in the book. Fierce defense was the true key to victory, led by Brayden Bundy with 5 steals and Jaxson Capehart with 3 steals. With 40 rebounds, this group certainly controlled the glass headlined by Wes Root, Jaxson Capehart and Greyson Romano with 7, while Nick Gelfuso and Stig Solberg each with 5 boards!

7th Coleman opens up ZG Nationals with a six point win over Middlesex Magic. Rosalie Bucci was on fire from deep hitting 5 3’s and finishing at the rim. Harper Raiche and Shelby Rittenhouse also played well offensively, connecting on a number of shots. Kaylee Fletcher and McKenna Cabral played great defense, getting many rebounds, deflections and steals leading to some easy baskets.
