After a major storm, it’s easy to focus on the damage and the long road to recovery. But moments like these also remind us of the incredible kindness and generosity within our community. ❤️

While crews worked long hours to help our our community, so many people stepped up to make sure they were cared for along the way.

A heartfelt thank-you to the resident who dropped off Oakmont Bakery donuts and bagels. It may seem like a simple gesture, but knowing the crews could start their shift with a full belly meant so much.

Lunch was generously provided by Calvary Church. They are always there to lend a helping hand when others are in need, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued kindness and support.

When dinner time came around, Underdogz happened to be set up nearby, and the crews were able to enjoy some hot dogs with their favorite toppings.

These acts of kindness are what make a community strong. To everyone who thought of the crews, brought food, offered a helping hand, or simply took a moment to say “thank you”—we appreciate you more than you know.

Neighbors helping neighbors. That’s what community is all about. ❤️

We would also like to thank Calvary Church for the fruit that was dropped off for the crews today.

It's been a busy week for the members of North Huntingdon EMS/Rescue!

Following the widespread power outage caused by a construction incident, our team responded to assist one of our local long-term care facilities that was left without power. Working alongside the facility's administration, North Huntingdon Township Emergency Management, Westmoreland County D.P.S. Information Page, Westmoreland City Fire Dept, Strawpump Volunteer Fire Department, Jeannette Beer Distributing, EMS West, and Healthcare Coalition of Southwest PA, we were able to secure generators, portable air conditioning, refrigerated storage for food and drinks, and lighting to ensure residents remained safe and comfortable. More than eight hours of coordination and teamwork went into supporting the facility until power was restored, and we're grateful to everyone who stepped up to help.

Our crews also had the opportunity to participate in a local Fourth of July celebration at Walden's View Senior Living Personal Care with our partners from Westmoreland City Fire Dept and Strawpump Volunteer Fire Department. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event special for the residents.

To top off the week, we're excited to announce that North Huntingdon EMS/Rescue has been awarded a Spark Good Local Grant from Walmart to help upgrade our Community CPR Program. This funding will allow us to continue providing high-quality CPR education and equip our instructors with updated training resources, helping us better serve our community.

Thank you to our staff, our public safety partners, and our community for your continued support. Together, we're making a difference every day.

One of the greatest privileges as Executive Director is watching people grow within our organization, and today I have the honor of recognizing one of those individuals.

Please join me in congratulating Tony Morris on his promotion to Deputy Director.

I have had the opportunity to watch Tony grow throughout his career—from serving as a dedicated line paramedic, to leading as our Operations Supervisor, and now stepping into this important leadership role. At every stage, he has demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our patients, our employees, and the community we serve.

Tony has always been someone who leads by example. Whether responding to a critical call, mentoring a new employee, or helping improve our day-to-day operations, he consistently puts the needs of others first. His leadership has already made a significant difference within our organization, and I am excited to see the positive impact he will continue to have as Deputy Director.

This promotion is well deserved, and I have complete confidence that Tony will help lead our organization forward as we continue to grow and provide the highest level of emergency medical care to our community.

Congratulations, Tony. Thank you for your dedication, your hard work, and your commitment to North Huntingdon EMS & Rescue. I look forward to working alongside you in this new chapter.

Earlier this week, our crews had the opportunity along with Penn Township Ambulance Association to work with North Huntingdon Police Department Junior Police Academy during a fun and educational day on the Youghiogheny River.

The cadets learned about water rescue operations, including how rescuers perform shore-based and in-water rescues while emphasizing water safety and teamwork. It was a great hands-on experience that gave the kids a better understanding of the training, equipment, and coordination required during water rescue incidents.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. We always enjoy partnering with our public safety agencies to educate and inspire the next generation while strengthening our community.

We are saddened to hear of the loss of one of our former EMTs, Rose. She helped build the organization from a different perspective, playing an important role in developing EMS billing software that allowed us to keep our billing services in-house. Her contributions helped strengthen our organization and supported the care we provide to the community every day.

We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Rose’s family, friends, and all who knew her during this difficult time.

Sorry for the delay in posting, but we were proud to support Norwin School District 8th grade CPR education program. Throughout the school year, all students participated in CPR training during Health Class. Our crews recently had the opportunity to review those skills with the students, and a select group stayed afterward to become CPR certified.

One of the exciting parts of this program is that we will be able to track these students’ CPR certifications throughout their years at Norwin and provide renewal classes every two years. This gives students interested in healthcare careers the opportunity to already have a current CPR certification as they begin their journey.

CPR saves lives, and we are proud to help educate the next generation.
